History of Tapah as aquaculture extension center
Tapah Aquaculture Extension Center was built in 1935, and become the earliest aquaculture center in Malaysia. This center was privatized under the privatization policy to the Fish Ranco Company Ltd, in 1st April 1987 until 31 March 1997 in 10 years.
On 1st October 1997 the fisheries department has decided to take over this aquaculture extension center. The role of Tapah center has been changed matching with the development of the aquaculture industry and focus on the rivers resources conservation. Now the objective and activities for this center are no longer limited into fry production only.
The development and conservation for this center has started in 1998. However, the whole and rapid development has been carried out in 2000.
With the area 10.44 acre large, this area have offices, hatcheries and 26 fish pond (1 reservoir pool, 5 cement pools and 20 ponds) electricity access to pond and other facilities like blower and water shower.
